Painting Her Way: The Ink Art of Fang Zhaoling, the first exhibition of Asia Society Hong Kong Center’s 20th Century Chinese Female Artist Series, displays a selection of paintings and calligraphy by the distinguished female artist Fang Zhaoling (1914-2006), focusing on her life and works. The exhibition is both presented and sponsored by The Jockey Club Charities Trust.
Fang is one of the most innovative Chinese artists in the twentieth century. Schooled in the traditional Chinese subjects of calligraphy and painting, Fang also received a Western-style education. These laid the foundations for her craft and international outlook. At age 36, she began her profession as an artist, quickly gained mastery of the brush as a pupil of Chao Shao'ang and later of Zhang Daqian. Fang's talent and creative prowess is demonstrated in the remarkable originality in her works. Her achievements and contributions to modern Chinese culture are a testament to her resilience in the face of political, social and personal upheaval amidst women’s changing roles in the twentieth century.
Apart from biography and artistic development, the exhibition also acknowledges Fang’s significant role in the revival of ink painting – the bridge between traditional and modern ink art. By showcasing important creations of Fang, the exhibition aims to honor her with public recognition.
The Series is the first of its kind in Hong Kong to feature the accomplishments of female artists in monographic presentations.

道無盡: 方召麐水墨藝術展
《二十世紀中國女藝術家系列》的首個展覽 － 《道無盡：方召麐水墨藝術展》，以當代著名女藝術家方召麐（1914－2006）的生平和創作為題，展示一系列她的精選畫作和書法作品。展覽由香港賽馬會慈善信託基金呈獻及贊助。
方召麐是於二十世紀末其中一位最富革新性的中國藝術家。由於她不單曾向中國傳統大師習藝，更接受過西方教育，這使她的作品極俱原創性。她的成就和對現代中國文化的持續貢獻，在二十世紀女性角色轉變時期上亦有著深遠的影響力。
除了方召麐的生平事蹟和藝術發展外，展覽同時讚頌她對水墨畫復興的重要性。她是傳統和新派水墨藝術之間不可或缺的橋樑。 舉辦是次展覽會的目的，是希望藉著展示方召麐的重要創作，從而公開表揚她。
整個展覽系列更是香港首個以女性藝術家為專題的展覽會。
