Congratulations to the Hong Kong Museum of History for being recognised among the "Best Ten National Museum Exhibitions" of 2017 for its blockbuster exhibition, "Miles upon Miles: World Heritage along the Silk Road." The exhibition, jointly presented by the Shaanxi Cultural Heritage Promotion Center, attracted over 100,000 visitors over its 3-month display.
The award is known as the “Oscar Award of the Museums and Heritage Sector” in China, which is organised by the Chinese Museums Association and the Chinese Cultural Relics News Press which have been awarding the finest Chinese exhibitions since 1997.
"Miles upon Miles" culminated the LCSD's museum programmes celebrating Hong Kong SAR's 20th anniversary. The exhibition focused on the Routes Network of the Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor of the Silk Road which spans four mainland provinces (Shaanxi, Henan, Gansu and Xinjiang), Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Some 160 items/sets of invaluable artefacts were selected from the four mainland provinces for display at the exhibition, over 50% of which are Grade-I National Treasures, while over 50 items/sets of artefacts came from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
